The Best Indoor and Outdoor Thermometer on the Market
The best indoor thermometer that I've owned is easily the Atomic Wall Clock and Indoor Thermometer sold by Radio Shack. I've owned one for years and can attest to its durability, reliability and accuracy. The one sold today is exactly the same as the one that I purchased two years ago and I intend to purchase another this Christmas as a gift. I use mine in the kitchen so that I can monitor how hot it gets as I use the oven and stove while cooking.
Aside from the standard time and temperature features, this thermometer synchs automatically to the U.S. Atomic Clock so that the time is always correct, offers a calendar option so that you can remember what date and day of the week it is, allows you to display time in either a 12 or 24-hour format and has a folding stand so that you can also use it as a desk clock if you'd prefer to not hang it on your wall. While it may not the most attractive thermometer/clock, it does exactly what you ask of it. It's silver in color and rectangular in shape and is a bit larger than the size of a standard sheet of paper. It's not particularly stylish but it doesn't look bad with all of my stainless steel appliances. The display is large and clear so that it can be seen and read from across the room. I wear heavy corrective lenses and even weak old eyes like mine have no trouble reading the display. It is powered by two AA batteries and battery life is excellent.
In the event that the batteries die, the unit is easy to reset to your preferences. Programming the thermometer back to your preferred calendar display and hour format is quite straightforward and simple, and I was able to reset my unit without having to scour the house for the user's manual. The price is perhaps its best feature these days, however. The Atomic Wall Clock and Indoor Thermometer come in at just under . Other models with similar features tend to cost a bit more, and while I attribute that to brand name, I find that the Radio Shack model is perfectly capable and dependable. For you could probably find a more chic-looking model, but I say form over function. For those of us feeling the budget crunch, the lower price is just the ticket.
If order online, you can further lower your cost by having the thermometer shipped to your local store and picking it up, and I regularly find Radio Shack coupons in the Sunday paper or online. The manufacturer offers a 90 day warranty on both parts and labor. In my experience with the manufacturer, they've always made good on warranty issues, and having a high degree of confidence in the manufacturer support of this item just sweetens the pot even more!

Blind people don't have to be without CD players or other equipment anymore. With the much advancement in technology, even the blind have an opportunity in owning such nice equipment. This is through many methods making it possible and in many countries that have registered blind people in the population to have the products made. When the blind have equipment that they can use, they feel a sense of worth to their communities. The blind help out when they can and offer many interesting stories from the past. There are a few products especially that have made innovations to accommodate for the blind. Such products are:
1. CD Players- In many countries now, they are investing their imaginations into the music business. Big button CD players will allow for the blind to feel for the right buttons to be able to play the music. There are bright colors for the partially blind. This allows the blind to still be able to put in a CD and listen to their favorite music or listen to the news. Everyone likes to listen to music, even the blind.
2. Telephones- These have been around for years and are also big buttoned and bright colored. The big buttons allow for the brail to be put on the numbers. Blind people have a need to talk to people on the phone just like ordinary people as well. Having the technology to do it is the best you can give the blind community. Being able to stay in touch with far away relatives is important to the blind as well. When telephones accommodate to the blind, it shows tolerance for their disability.
3. Audio Book reader- Like everyone, whether they are blind or not, if you like to read, then you want to read a book. For blind people, learning to read brail can be a task that is challenging. With an audio book reader, the blind don't have to worry about the different letters in the brail alphabet. It is like learning a new language and for older people who lose their vision, it is impossible to learn. Knowing all there is about what the likes and dislikes are of a person is by the constant understanding of their disability.
The blind have a lot to give to society and it only seems fair to give them some equipment that they can use and feel like part of society. CD players and other equipment for the blind are innovations that are great to the blind community. They can feel that they are that vital part to society. The blind are people just like everyone else. Sometimes it is hard to see it that way.
